UoS scholar wins Deakin’s int’l placement at NAP

The School of Education Deakin University Australia, placed its Pakistani doctoral fellow and the youngest PhD scholar of Sargodha University in the National Assembly of Pakistan (NAP) to observe governance issues, policy matters and the challenges faced by the higher education institutions.

Dr Mohsin Raza has served University of Sargodha in various roles including Assistant Director Academics, Deputy Director Planning, Founding Manager Facilitation Center, Secretary Admission Committee and Deputy Staff Secretary.

His placement has been made as part of a Deakin International Career Development Placement supported by the Victorian Government’s International Education Resilience Fund (IERF) against $15,000 to carry out the project.

Following the placement, the National Assembly of Pakistan attached Dr Raza with the Standing Committee for Federal Education, Professional Training, National Heritage and Culture, providing him the opportunity to learn policy, planning, legislation and governance at a national level.

Radhika Gorur, Associate Professor at Deakin University and PhD supervisor of Dr Raza said that providing opportunity to learn closely about the policy and governance matters related to higher education sector would be enormously useful for the research scholar in finding the real-time results.

Parliamentary Secretary for Energy, MNA Hamid Hameed, who is also a member of Pakistan’s Standing Committee for Higher Education, Professional Training, National Heritage and Culture appraised the efforts of Deakin University Australia to support and promote young scholars providing them opportunity to deeply observe the governance and higher education related matters of Pakistan. Quality research promotion and Academia-industry ties could better help Pakistan at many fronts to achieve its prosperity agenda, he said.
